Love is a Choice

Choices are important in life since our choices have consequences. Jesus calls us for example to consciously choose to move out of darkness in our lives into the light of His truth. In so doing we then choose to let go of hate and choose to love; to choose to let go of vengence and choose to forgive.
In our relationships with each other we may feel flat or wonder what is wrong with us. It is then that we should remember that love is a choice and that love is not something that happens to us, but rather something that is created by us. Let us choose to love.

My grandfather lived through the Bolshevik Revolution, and two world wars. As a child I'd listen to his stories from that period...stories of his survival and the stories of the many family members he lost. I think maybe more amazing than his stories was the fact that he never harbored hatred or resentment about what happened. He always found the good in people and told me how important it is to forigive and move on..he chose to love. I don't know if I could have been the way he was but I do know that the example he set for me makes me try very hard every day.
